EGR Blanking Plate

Hi all,

I'm sure this has been posted a hundred times before, but i just cant find any reference.

My wife left me home alone on the weekend, and whilst in my shed, i found an EGR blanking valve that i had bought but never fitted to my 2007, 70 Series.

Now in more recent times, the vehicle has had a constant aroma of burning oil, and the fuel economy has been getting really bad.

So my thoughts were that perhaps this blanking plate may help?

... well it didn't.

I haven't taken it far yet, as it has lost massive power.
Hills that i could easily drive up in 5th gear, i am now struggling to get up in 3rd.

Could there be something else going on?

Can you give me a full Description of 4x4 year model motor type and size, turbo or not <

It's a 2007 VDJ79, 2 Door, with the V8 Diesel

If the problem happened quickly i would be looking for a vacume hose split or come off somewhere it sounds like there is some kink of leak i would also check fuel supply filter etc

Other than that its going to start getting expensive to check and fix
