Engine troubles

Hi all, recently got a 1988 75 series troopy with a 3F in it, mechanic has said its most likely done a head gasket which is not very ideal, is it best to just get that done or is something else also likely to go because of its age? Also is it worth rebuilding or swapping the engine out? Absolutely stumped at the moment with what to do
