The yellow swimming pool hose from the air filter to engine doesn't look OEM....

Internet diagnosis via a couple of pics is hardly a perfect science.
A more robust check would be to put your car code/VIN into Toyodiy and see what it spits out.
At the end of the day it is a Toyota engine and a good one! And it may turn out to be original with a funny air filter cross-over pipe

hence the reason i asked for the pics.
i have yet to see a 13B offered in any Land Cruiser.
the 13BT is norm
the 3B is norm
the 13B is not normal. i thought i would see something new that the factory did.
the 13B is a tough reliable motor so no worries there, if the swap is a clean one then no worries that it isn't original.
actually, you can brag a bit since you have something that no one else has and that motor will accept a turbo very nicely.
i wasn't running down your rig
, i was questioning the originality. 
if you are happy then that is all that matters.

not all Cruiserheads are honest in their dealings with others
(the high percentage of Cruiserheads are honest 
since it is such a tight nit community)

Thanks for your comments Andrew and Crushers. To be honest, I am not really worried about the engine not being original, since my mechanic says the engine is in very good condition...and as you said, a turbo would fit nicely! The thing is I hate being lied to. The guy I bought the Cruiser from (a mechanic no less!!), said that the engine was original...and since he was a mechanic and I'm not, I took his word for it. In fact I was perplexed when toyodiy gave a 3B engine when I searched my VIN number the first time.
Anyways...I still love my 'baby' and will continue restoration as planned I am currently waiting for some interior bits and pieces before starting upholstery. It also needs a good engine clean-up (as you can see in the pics).

I will certainly do in the future, but firstly I think it's more of a priority to finish the restoration. Lately I had also trouble with the engine stopping abruptly. The main cause seemed to be a faulty primer-pump and solenoid (the one which stops the engine when the key is turned to 'off'). With a slight alteration my mechanic fitted in another pump, as I did not find an OEM one, not even from Toyota. The solenoid I ordered yesterday, but will have to wait about two weeks.

Hi guys
I've been away for quite a while. Had some trouble with the engine. It was sucking in air from an unknown location and it used to slow down abruptly and refusing to move, even with the gas-pedal pressed all down. It was driving me crazy. I tried cleaning the tank, replacing all rubber fuel hoses but to no avail. After a couple of months full of trials and errors (and money flowing) I decided to change mechanic. I took it to a Toyota specialist and behold...in just a couple of minutes he found the culprit...it was the new primer-pump which was replaced very recently (together with a solenoid). He fitted an original Hi-Lux primer pump instead of the after-market one. It now runs smoothly at last. I will definitely keep the new mechanic!

Finally managed to find a set of side-steps, although I am missing one bracket. Tomorrow I will be meeting someone who has a complete set of LJ70 uphostery...let's hope LJ and BJ have compatible upholsteries!!

Upholstery in place at last!!! I also got another pair of sidesteps (original), since the ones I bought last week were aftermarket and not quite solid. 
Most probably I will return to the breaker's next week to get the floor upholstery since it is in very good shape (most probably better than mine).

Hi there guys
It's been quite some time since my last check-in...
I'm still going through restoration (at a slower pace though)...
Last summer I took the truck back to the panel beater's for some rust removal (which unveiled some ugly cover-ups).
Next week I am supposed to take it to the sprayer's. I am thinking of painting it in two-tone. I will retain the original colour on the upper part and use a darker (maybe black or blue/gray) for the lower part. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
