Flat caps

Any flat cap wearing people here?

What is the stigma attacjed to them if any all i know is its farmers and country folk who wear them but for the life of me cant see the purpose they serve. Do they do a good job of keeping rain out and off your head and do they keep the rain off your head. Are they good at keeping your head warm?

I quite like them but am not 100% sure its any better than a tilley hat or cap.
