For Sale : 1990 LJ70 - Spares or Repair

I have for sale my 1990 LJ70.

I’ve had it since 2007 and it was used regularly until 2011 when I bought my 80 series.

It's been sitting on my drive since then looking unloved and now it has to go. I’ve no room or inclination to break it myself but it would be a shame to see it scrapped.


As usual for a 70 series the bodywork is rusting and a bit bashed in places and would require work to get it in good condition. The engine starts first time, has never overheated, and runs well. It needs a couple of batteries as I currently have to borrow some when I run it.


It has 4 Khumo KL71 tyres with about 10mm of tread on them on 15” Toyota alloys. Spare is a road tyre.

The suspension is +50mm OME fitted in 2008/9 and, although rusty, have done a few thousand miles since fitting. Brakes have stainless steel flex hoses.


The interior is in good condition for the age and has had covers fitted to the front seats since I bought it. Rear seats have been removed and the side panels fitted with aluminium checker plate.


Also included are a couple of road tyres and the original towbar if I can find it.

Sold to the man from Wales

Iwan turned up on Thursday evening in his KZJ71 to collect the LJ70.



After getting it loaded, strapped down, and a bit of faffing about with trailer electrics we stopped for a cuppa before he was off back to the M74 and South.

It was great to meet him and see his amazing 71 series. The engine looks like it just came out the factory last week. The 70 series not so much.

Good to meet you Richard. . Was a long days drive.. many thanks for helping me to get the side lights sorted on the trailer board.

The road surface on the M74 was nice and flat in the slow lane.. but the slow lane on the M6 is a complete disgrace! Shaped like a W from all the hgv's. So influenced the trailer or truck to weave a bit. Made it back safe and sound. .
