Thats exactly what i did with mine, On the 80 and the 90..... I think Cruisers look better with out them

Agreed, those bolts on the rearmost brackets are a b***h. I had all my brackets off for a cleanup, rust treatment and repaint except the rear ones. Access to the bolts is very awkward verging on impossible so I cleaned and painted the rear brackets in situ. Wouldn’t like to lose the sidesteps though. Very handy for washing/polishing, mounting/demounting antennas, loading the roofbars etc..etc.

3 hours and i got the bottom bolt hurray so same spanner will work on the top most surely removed the body mount bush to get some room for a spanner but guess what , non of my 11 , 12 , imperial similars or metrinch sockets or spanners will grip it at all - and its not even badly rounded ?

And i want to keep the steps on they just need modified

I like the look of this anyone used them

Me too, never failed but by the time they are required, heat is invariably needed to prevent shearing.

I took the sidesteps off the GX as I too prefer the look, I got the rearmost ones off but it was time consuming and I used every 12mm tool I had in the process. It won't be something I do again in a hurry.

I've got a couple of sets from Irwin, and I know Toolstation do them, and I know there's one of those in Cardiff at least. They do come in two sets (of different sizes) though and invariably the first set you buy doesn't have quite the right size for what you're doing!

Screwfix do an Erbauer set, no idea how good they are. I've found their power tools perfectly adequate.

Iv got the Irwin full set, Served me well and they have had some Grief over the years.

And the Magnusson socket won't touch the nits either , i can only imagine it was 11 and a half mm nut before i started ?

time for a chisel and big hammer .
