Gearbox and Transfer case socket size.

Hi Guy's
having an issue with finding a socket to drop the oils on my VDJ78R Camper.Some fit the 24mm,but have too much movement for my likeing .Oil was changed 18nths afo

They are 24mm ut as they're v. ery thin heads, the bevels on the inside of the socket cause a poor fit. Typically, I pop mine in the lathe and trim them, others use an angle grinder. Just make sure you take the filler plug out FIRST

All that Chris said (especially the bit about taking the filler plug first) plus using a six sided socket will reduce the chance of slippage.

Good point, yes 6 sided socket. Clean it all well, get a good position on it and give it your best shot first time.

Thanks for the feedback Chris, Going to tool mart to see if they can help.
Your comments are spot on, not sure of Toyota thinking with the risk of slips(rounding off), it's a very important and often unscrewed bolt.
