I have a 2001 prado 3ltr turbo diesel and some time ago it randomly stopped whilst driving. Sine that time it has stopped more and more, usually when braking to a stop but sometimes just whilst driving. On occasions I have travelled 399km without an issue and then just sowing down and the engine revs drop to around 800 then the engine stops altogether.
I have another 2000 prado so I have swapped ecu’s, no change, had filters changed and tank drained, no change, removed and cleaned the butterfly, no change.
Some similar threads have been posted and I too have sought professional diesel service help and spent a heap of money but still cannot find the root cause.
Any help appreciated

Is there water in your fuel ?
or
Have a read up on suction control valves

I had similar problem on my 40 and it was the flex fuel line between the chassis fuel line and the engine which had degraded and swelled inwards thus restricting the fuel flow.
Obviously your truck is a lot newer and undoubtedly more sophisticated but it might be worth checking that flex pipe.

Rodger
