Evening legends , my current insurance company has declined to insure the 60 and my new defender this year so I’m looking for any direction for the 60 series regards john

Flux are still insuring a couple of my modified trucks...

Mine too, but you do have to give them a talking to for a good half hour. My most expensive is the VW which is about £500, initially was £1080 from about £480 the year before. The V6 Collie is about £250, the modified 80 £380 and the 120 £400 with commuting included.
When I spent an afternoon as an exercise to get the 120 insured ( when AF quoted £350) no one came close.

£187 FC for the 80, SDP and no commuting with Hastings which is still +£30 on last year although I did talk them down from a £70 increase.

I've now got my 1995 80 insured with classic car specialist with agreed value of £25,000. Cost was 320 p.a. with continental travel and breakdown cover. Mileage limited to 5000 miles per annum. Nice to know that I will receive a decent payout if a write off occurs. I don't think the bigger insurance companies would be persuaded on that figure.

Flux quoted me about £2k to insure my 78. NFU were less than half that. I previously used A-plan for the FJ and they offered the identical policy to Flux for half the price too.

We recently switched to Keith Michaels after the previous lot started talking about immobilizers. So far they have been refreshingly old school and on the ball when it comes to imports and mods etc.

120 was £275ish in January, with Direct Line, hoping for no nasty shocks come the new year.
They've also been very reasonable at a similar price on the Mrs' flying Forester, again up in January.
Whether they would entertain the 60 you could try their own website first.

I had the same issue last year! I ended up going with a specialty insurer moneyrepublic that focuses on classic vehicles. They were more understanding of the unique needs of older models like the 60 Series. Definitely worth checking out.

Are you sure its the 60 and not the Defender that makes them shy ?

I know its not electric but I've read a few stories about insurers refusing to cover mostly electric cars because they cost to much to repair .

Try this guy, Parminder Jakhu, Insurance Advisor, Heritage Insurance Brokers, 0121 246 6060, he was very helpful. Also try NFU, real decent crowd.

Will you please pm me the name of the specialist you used? I’m struggling with insurance costs at the moment.

Shocking how insurance costs up 32% year on year. Went with NFU.

Yep, and even though they were up like all others and more than I expected or wanted to pay, no-one came close to NFU. One wanted around £1000 for the 120 !!

Insurance is driving me mad.
Bought my Landcruiser two months before my current policy expired, so I just added it to my existing policy to preserve the NCB.

But to make sure the insurance wouldn't be too outrageous, I got a quote just over two weeks from comparethemarket before I bought my 150:
£600. This is about what I was paying before for my RAV4 and I'm okay with that.

Now that my policy is nearing the end of its term, I ran a quote just over a week ago and it had shot up to £1000.

Just ran a quote again on compare the market now that I'm in the window where I can actually buy a policy and its now £1500. No other details have changed, its just a little later!

I am now in that 30 day period before my current insurance expires, and I'm not seeing any particularly tenable quotes!

Rang NFU based on recommendations above, and they want £2,500!

Yes, I'm only 31. But I haven't paid £1500 for car insurance since I was 17!
Clean driving history (in the last 5 years anyway).
And this isn't even the fastest, or even the most expensive car I've ever owned.

Direct Line don't feature on the comparison sites, i understand the same applies to LV.

MSE's own comparison site proved very handy last month for this years renewals with DL.

I tried direct line and just got a "Sorry, we are unable to provide a quote right now".

I don't really understand. In just three weeks, I've gone from £600 to being practically uninsurable!

Will give MSE a go thanks

Global turmoil because Trumps in charge , a month from now things might look very different .

Confused.com claims to guarantee they will beat any quote so worth a look maybe .

I'm with Sterling, one of their classic policies, no commuting, and limited to 5k miles per year fully comp is about £220 for me and my Mrs. Didnt think that was too bad.

I've tried all the big comparison sites.
Insurance does fluctuate a lot day to day, so I'm just hoping maybe in a week there will be some sensible quotes... The fact that three weeks ago it was half the price, I'm hopeful that it is just a temporary hike in prices - I've done all the usual tricks, paying in full, quoting a full month out from policy start date, searching during the day versus middle of the night.

No way I should be paying £1500 for a landcruiser. I've had my license 13 years, so I'm not exactly a new driver.
