Hi, Henry here from the currently sunny northern counties of the UK. New member on here, actually on any forum, and I reckoned I’d looked in from the outside for long enough.
I’m fortunate to have two land cruisers, an 80 series that is quite heavily modified for travelling, and a 120 that is mostly standard but for a 2” lift.
The 120 was our family wagon for the past 12 years and now has 243,000 miles on it. It’s been super but now a bit grotty underneath so it’s in a shed not MoT’d and I don’t know what to do with it for the moment.
The 80 I’ve owned for 17 years, is an jap import and is my third. It’s been to Tunisia and Algeria before I shipped it to Kenya when I worked in Uganda for a while. At the time it was much much cheaper to ferry it to Mombasa than buy something knackered there. It’s been to Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia and frankly South Africa. Then I shipped it home as I love it almost more than my family.
It’s running an arb bull bar, 12000lb winch (practically never used), recaro seats from the correct period but they’re a bit knacked. I think I’m on my 4 set of suspension, currently non adjustable Icon. 16” Toyota steelies as they’re tough, snorkel and some old light force spotties. Currently re-building it as it’s a bit worn out but still fantastic and better than almost anything else. I’ve some gullwings to install and an intercooler. Upgraded brakes are there as the standard ones are crap and some new seats on the wanted list. Recently it’s got an e-diff in the rear as it had an lsd as standard. Oh, and the gearbox has had a rebuild as it reallly needed it.
I’ve only a couple of pics of it on my phone and they’re from a few years ago but it looks basically the same.
Sorry if that’s a long winded description but I got carried away.
