KZJ 78 not charing battery.

Having spent the last 3 months in south Australia drooling over the Toyota V8 crew cab EWT's, it's punishment time. My kZJ78 is not charging, the battery was flat, now charged up, the auto gear lever lock is only releasing manually and there are no charge warning lights on the dash at startup. The engine starts ok and all the other stuff works too. The alternator was fine on the test bed but is now being overhauled as the brushes were low. Could it be the ECU again.....

Hi. Not sure if your truck has the same set up but my mate had similar problems on a hilux surf a while back. We eventually found that the regulator for the alternator was separate from the alternator and bolted on the wing drivers side. Replaced that and everything back to normal . HTH
