Hello guys.
Just curious has anyone got a flip keyfob made and is it any good.
I find the toyota keys a little weak when starting up.
Just wanted to find a flip key and try it.

Be interested if you find any good alternatives - the standard keys are rubbish

As I read it, it's a blank that has to be cut ? A lot of specialist places that cut keys won't do a key supplied, as they say metal may be too hard/unknown and buggers their machine.
A sales ploy to supply one of their own (not in this case) and lose a key cutting sale ?

This is a daft wagon flip key.
Don't see the problem in a good key service programming a similar key for the landcruiser 120..
Judging by replies upto now nobody has got this key upgrade so research is needed.

The yotamd one does not include the blank you need to buy that from whoever is going to cut the key

I've had one of these for 6 or so years, used daily still does the job and not falling apart.
Simply transfer the plipper gubbins from the rubbish Toyota key into the case and get the flip blank cut, i think i used the grey key for pattern cutting as it was unused.

Note, its been a few years now but i recall there are several different pattern/length blanks so make sure the blank is the right one for your key.

Been trying to find similar for our Subaru, the OE key is strong unlike Toyota's offering but the plastic key case is rubber coated and the rubber coating is failing.
Sadly there's multiple variations of Subaru keys and no one does the bare case like the one above, can get a complete new programmable key but its circa £120.

I found this one on Ebay.
Not sure if it will work as just get the key cut and swop my internals over.
It was only cheap so worth a try.

Good luck Tony let us know how you get on! Ive never had any luck finding someone who will cut fleabay blanks. Bootle fire station might cut it on one of their blanks though

Thats the same one as i mentioned above and which i've been using for several years.
Juts make sure the key blank is the right length and pattern, as far as i can recall there are several possible key blanks.

Little update on my key fob update.
I went to timsons the other day just out of curiosity.
I asked him to just cut the blank I had but he declined.
The reason was not that he couldn't do it but was on cctv and he could only use therr own parts.
Since toyota never done a keyfob update he wouldn't do it (only because he was on cctv).
£50 was his price also but gave me a place to get it cut and just waiting to get a chance to get there.
I phoned a few shops and they don't do car keys anymore due to most cars having smart keys.
Dying trade apparently.

Finally got round to getting my flip key cut.
I went to NW keys on karl2000 advice.
Cost my £5 but not had a chance to test out yet as that will be when I'm home.
The guy did say
( the key could jam in the ignition due to being aftermarket. )
He also said because the transponder is a bit further away from the ignition it may not start.
But for the sake of £10 total worth a try.
Will try on my door lock first before my ignition.
Will put my findings up later.

Update my new keyfob works perfectly.
Ignition turn on the key was smooth.
Key in the door was also smooth but then I keep everything lubricated.

Big thanks to karl2000 again for pointing me in the right direction.

Helen d4d 90 has that same weak key , first ebay replacement fell to bits so the second I reinforced it internally with metal putty a few year ago now .

I have my doubts it will last so I have put strong black tape around it.
Also for piece of mind have hidden my old key in the car just incase I need the transponder.
The flip key doesn't feel to badly made to be honest but time wil tell.
