Landrover v Tank round

Amazed at the damage the Back Blast from that Small cannon did. It made more Mess than the Tank Shell.. Seems the only thing left to do with a Knackered Disco 3..

the shell hit a solid lump of engine , the back blast pressurized the car internally .

Should have painted it blue with yellow stars first

Yep, you can see the thought process behind the design of the RR ‘recoil from a gun can be pretty dangerous, let’s design one that has an explosion instead’ hmm great idea!!

The thing is, that D3, didn’t look at all knackered. There’s folks that would buy that from an unscrupulous forecourt and think they had a reasonable vehicle until it came to MOT time. Buyer beware.

Maybe the peppering of holes in the back door from the recoil blast was debris picked up off the floor and turned into shrapnel?
The guy said it would no longer pass the smog test so I guess it could be anything from some dead electronics to a knackered DPF/CAT or even some other emissions crap they're loaded up with for sale over there. I watched a video on Youtube recently (I think it was posted on here) about an ex-pat Brit who now lives and works over there specialising in LR repairs and he was bemoaning the complexity and repair cost off all the 'active' electronic systems that can lead to the scrapping of the vehicle.

Well there will never be a shortage of knackered Disco 3s For the Tank Boys to play with.....

Ahh but think of all the emissions that will be saving. Not including those required to dismantle and recycle the vehicle of course, or the emissions needed to create the replacement vehicle. I wonder what the difference would be? Obviously we would need to be talking about a reliable vehicle that would go on and on. I wouldn’t mind betting the exchange to a new vehicle would put far more emissions into the atmosphere than simply running the vehicle.

There you go. Run an old Landcruiser and save the planet. :)

Hi thanks for that it has made my day that will stop them from sneaking away wen that break down in the camafloumge.:laughing-rolling::text-thankyoublue:

Not sure what shell they were using but the damage appears to be purely kinetic rather than explosive. Wasn’t a particularly good shot either!

The guys says it’s a non explosive solid projectile right at the beginning of the vid. Probably tungsten as the the solid DU rounds ignite on impact.
I want one of those 68k FPS cameras!

Ah right, thanks, I had to have the sound turned down!
Yeh nice slow mo!

I hate to think how much a 68k FPS camera would cost. That is incredible slo mo. I particularly liked seeing the sound barrier shock wave just after the shell leaves the muzzle and speeds away from it.
