Also... what were you doing drinking Fosters?! They'll not let you back in to Aus for that... There's all the brilliant Shropshire beers, and you're drinking that (unless someone's making it look like you are...) I brought back 3 bottles of Ludlow for the local micro brewery here to try as a comparison to their beer (and to get them to do something like an English beer) There's all the beers Woods, Hobson's and Six Bells to just name the ones around my area of Shropshire... I do like the fact that you can go into Countrywide in Ludlow and stock up on beer... I wish CRT would do that here in town...
Looks like a good trip so far, stay the shiny side up!
I saw the 4WD TV guys drive through Katherine today in the Colorado's while I was driving my LJ70. Reminded me to jump on your thread for another update.
Big fan of how the flares turned out Ben. Is "greenlaning" the same now that you've done a heap of Aussie 4x4ing? Looks very different to anything here.

There up that way on a Kimberly trip with my boss.
Its quite different to 4wding in OZ but its still a lot of fun!
A lot of the greenlanes are ancient drovers routes and Roman roads, so theres a lot of history and the beautiful Welsh countryside is full of picturesque ruins and castles which Australia obviously doesnt have.
But there is always a lot of miles on bitumen between lanes, where as in OZ I can go away for weeks at a time and never touch bitumen.
Australia is definitely the better place to own a 4wd, its 4wd heaven IMHO!
Nice one Ben, I've never tried shooting a longbow yet, it needs much more skill than the type of bow I shoot, one of these days maybe. Those pics are ace, especially the last one.
Warwick castle, that brings back memories Ben. I used to cycle there in the evenings (from home in Brum) in my fit youth, training after school. It's one of the best castles IMO, some ruins but a lot of it in great condition. Those complex arches inside really show the level of engineering and architectural skills that existed all those years ago.
Only passed by it last week last week was over in abbey park doing a course was staying in kenilworth our paths nearly crossed small world as we say over here
It was my 3rd visit to the island and quite possibly the best!
We flew from East Midlands.
We were joined by Erin's friend Steven.
We met an Italian guy at the airport who offered to be our driver for the week, he had lots of contacts and could even get us on guest lists at some of the clubs. He drove us to our hotel.
All over the island there are huge billboards advertising all the international DJ's who flock to the island for 4 months every year.
Our hotel.
The water taxi regularly ferried passengers across the bay from our hotel to the center of the capital San Antonio and we would use it a lot on our holiday.
We had a wonder around San An on our first night.
I purchased a handmade Italian pizza.
Street art.
The next day we went back on the water taxi to San An.
We walked to the sunset strip where Cafe Del Maar and Cafe Mambo are and had some drinks and food at Mambo.
That afternoon we headed for Ushuaia on the other side of the island. Ushuaia is a hotel and villa complex with a big stage in the center that hosts outdoor music events every afternoon from 5pm till midnight.
We were here to see 2014's worlds #1 DJ Hardwell.
Its very close to the airport so we constantly had planes flying over the stage.
The DJ's on before Hardwell were pretty good and the sound system was amazing! I've been to music festivals and nightclubs all over the world and IMHO the sound system here was probably the best I've heard!
The man himself.
Hardwell's version of the Cedric Gervais remix of Lana Del Rays, Summer Time Sadness.
On the way to Amnesia I spotted a lucky lucky man with these silly glasses so asked to put them on for a pic. (A lucky lucky man is the name given to our African brothers who are all over the island, who as a front sell hats and sun glasses, I think you can probably guess what else they sell.)
We were at Amnesia for London club night Together, to see Dutch DJ Sander van Doorn.
Sander Van Doorn is one of my favorite DJ's and he never fails to put on an awesome night.
We left the club at 5.30am and got one of the free bus's back to San An.
We got a few hours sleep and then relaxed around the pool for a few hours.
The next day we headed to the weekly Hippy Market for a wonder around.
We then headed to one of my favorite bars, Bora Bora. Bora Bora is a beach bar and is always full of beautiful people and awesome House music and the beach is very picturesque.
We headed back to our hotel and there were some guys about to do some sort of show with parrots.
We headed for the sunset strip for what is an Ibiza tradition, watching the sunset in front of Mambo and Del Maar.
The next morning I got up early and had a walk to San An along the promenade.
I did some shopping and then got the boat back to the hotel and met the others for drinks.
Soon it was time for a very intimate boat party with super star German DJ Paul Van Dyk. He puts one of these boat parties on just once a year.
It was awesome being so close to him while he was behind the decks.
The atmosphere was incredible and everyone was so friendly!
He played all his classics from the last 20+ years!
He was more than happy to get up and dance with his fans, pose for photos and autographs.
While I danced and had one of the best days of my life..........
Certain people were getting very friendly with each other!
The party kept going till sunset.
Then we returned to San An to get ready for another night at Amnesia, this time to celebrate Liverpool club brand, Cream's 20th birthday on the island.
But not before I could get a photo with Mr Paul Van Dyk (sadly only a crappy camera phone pic as my camera had died.)
Amnesia is without doubt my favorite club in the world!
More Paul Van Dyk as well as a host of other big names.
We left the club at 6am and headed back to the hotel. I didnt manage to get any sleep as it was light and hot, but a few hours later it was time to check out.
Danny and I said good bye to Erin and Steven.
And headed to Bora Bora for drinks.
We stopped at a restaurant for lunch.
Then headed to the airport.
We queued for an hour and a half at the Ryan Air desk to get our boarding pass, only to be told because we hadnt checked in online we would have to pay 70 euros each!
It didnt say this anywhere on our paper work and the guy said we wouldnt be able to go and check in online now as it was too late.
And what did they do for this 140 euros??
Absolutely nothing!
They didnt fill in any forms, print anything off, write anything down, Nothing!
They took our money and handed us our boarding cards that they already had.
I will never fly Ryan Air again, bunch of conning bastards!
Anyway................
Despite that rather un-pleasant end to the holiday we still had an amazing time!
So thats the partying over!
No more music festivals until November and no more Ibiza until 2016 when we go back for my 30th.
I've got another week and a half in the UK then I fly back to Melbourne. When I get back I've got 4 weeks at work then I'm off for 3 weeks on my Simpson Desert trip!
So its going to be a busy time as I've still got heaps to do on LJ before the trip.
Next holiday will be Christmas when I get 3 weeks off work, then Easter when my parents fly over for 4 weeks.
Not a massive fan of some types dance music, but do respect the good guys who do house etc, as that's what I'm happy listening to.
I'd recommend staying over for a bit longer, if you thought last winter was cold in Melbourne, this ones worse. Damn cold up here in New England as well, had the heating on nearly everyday and have a run of minus temps again this week (last week it tricked me and it was warm enough to ride in long shorts and a couple of t-shirts)
