I had this bad boy sitting in my house for so long and it's all because of not having the proper ECU which is the ECU 89661-60250. I have seen a few for sale at eBay but I'm wondering if anyone has come up with any other alternative or compatible ECU (if there's any). If anyone knows anywhere else that I could order this ECU (besides those listed on eBay) please get in touch with me! Thank you so much in advance guys!

after we rebuilt my 1993 KZJ78W-PGT automatic 3lts KZTE turbo from ground up (fully stripped to chassis then checked and replaced all suspension etc.. then resprayed cab and put new kilmat insulated flooring and all mod cons etc... ) we blew the motor a couple times from various reasons; 1. my kids overheated it, so we rebuilt it, 2. blew it again after fiddling with the injector pump spill valve and it had ranway revs (fiddled because it wasn't running smooth). 3. Then in workshop tweaked spill valve setting again and it ran away revv'd again, so then had it's 3rd rebuild. After No. 2 and No. 3 rebuilds it was really tough starting, and laboured for ages before firing. But during the project rebuild we also opened the EC and it looked damaged from previous owner, even had slight burnt smell in it). I had the EC circuits checked and repaired at local electronic bush shop, installed it and it worked fine except after the spill valve caused damages and subsequent engine rebuilds we focused on the injector pump and completely refurbed it like new, and reset all known settings, but starting her was still really hard, we tried all sorts interventions to heat plugs direct and longer, send more fuel, installed inline fuel pump etc.... etc.. but to no avail, so we purchased a brand new, authentic copy DENSO injector pump from China (unknowingly it was for a manual transmission, not an auto, which we did not think about checking before purchasing it), so the workshop guys have tried and have successfully converted it to a now manual injector pump system and have reconfigured the auto gearbox gear shifts up/down timings almost perfectly, bypassing the EC etc... That part works great (*I've seen comments that folks say it is actually best to do just this, that is to convert it to a manual injector setup rather than leaving is with the original old automatic / electronic type injector system cos the EC can let you down badly in the bush one day). Anyway after converting it to a manual injector pump with no EC input, no matter what we've tried we cannot get it to start normally and smoothly. With the current set up it struggles badly to fire up, when cold she needs about 3 to 4 long cranks and foot flat on gas pedal, and when she does fire she initially blows a massive plume of black smoke for 5 seconds that resembles a steam train starting up on an icy Hebrides morning, and it runs really roughly for about 1 minute before stabilising its fuel flow somehow. After the initial 5 seconds of massive black exhaust smoke it changes to continuous stream of gray smoke until such time she is really warm, then its a continuous thinner stream of gray smoke, all day long, more smoke at higher revs, less at low revs. Once running she's great. has power, runs smooth. Its just the start ups and constant grey smoke is the problem. So the next step for us is to source another EC 89661A cos we suspect maybe the EC wasn't repaired that well, and with new EC convert it all back to original electronic system with the original rebuilt injector pump and see if that works and she goes back to original behaviour mode. But in checking the web I cant find EC's #89661A's, i see the same ECs as you that is type 9717580-129-7 but based on what you said i think I shouldn't buy it? I found one example of 9717580-129-7 tonight on net from exactly similar vehicle as mine, and like you said, they also say it worked good. On ToyoDIY i cross-referenced the chassis number they say it came from and it is only a few vehicles away from mine, but identical, auto, colour scheme everything. So I'm thinking I'll put in an offer and try buy it, although you said it didnt work at all on your vehicle? If anyone has a solution or a source of where to check for this original EC 89661A will be great (i haven't checked e-bay and Amazon i have bad luck shipping with them to africa, items get nicked enroute) and i haven't had success on BeForward. Hoping you chaps out there may be able to assist from your learnings
