Shocks gone is what I think does that sound about right . All the rear bushes were replaced a few months ago , it can't be the exhaust catching as the noise is coming from both sides while cornering left or right .

What shocks and springs ? no intention of adding weight to the rear of the truck but for occasional use trailer is nose heavy .

It could also be a rear body mount broken or the body mount bushing has worn, could also be (but would expect it have happened slowly over time) the rear door hinge pin worn or maybe a broken rear spring.

It's an outside possibility, but when the rear door check strap bolts came loose from the bottom of the door on mine the noise was incredibly loud. Maybe worth a look.

Must be the shocks then , been thinking they've had it for a while (they could possibly be original) and the problem only started yesterday after making a deliberate effort to make my trailer bounce and misbehave , it didn't . The noise just made me wonder is it normal for absolutely bolloxed shocks ? metal on metal creaking hinge - how do you describe a noise :?

Check the shock hasn't broken off at the top mounting. Mine sounded a bit like that when the top bolt sheared and the shock was hitting the chassis as I drove along.

That's a likely one Steve top mount on one side looked a bit damp around the bolt so yeah that's the noise explained cheers .
