Spent a couple of days on this. My old 8x4 ifor William's. Hubs were knackered so was stored in the hedge for 7 years. Well cut off the axle made a new setup using 70 series rear hubs 60 series springs and some new spring hangers. Hopefully after a good clean and tidy will be a big rooftent and the 270 awning and sides . Work in process but I'm happy how it turned out so far.

You gonna have somewhere proper to sleep instead of drowning in the bad weather?

Yeah eventually I think we will. Looking at a 4 man rooftent with annexe. Got some work to do first though mate.

Looking forward to a few more adventures.
Ps..hello Harriet!

Gav you going to keep with the solid style spring hangers as I think the ride will be bloody awful as the springs would have no flex in them know you said work in progress and don't forget shocks they make a lot of difference in the ride comfort and have to ask what was that pink fluffy thing in the shots did you have something stuck on the lens Oh and at first glance thought it was a faded military green not moss and hedgerow great recycling project by the way was that a braked trailer or you just going for the 750kg are you taking that to Thetford or a wobble box

Back in the day they used to plaster the leaf springs with grease then cover them with purpose built leathers.

Are you going to box the spring hangers, they look a bit weak sideways. Nice looking job and goes well with LC.

Have a look at cunningham covers for ideas Gav , was years ago now but I found their prices very reasonable .

Previous comment about suspension made me think on , was it Timbran mentioned not long ago on the forum ? , Lose a couple of leafs to account for the lesser weight and add a rubber shock absorber .

Yeah have a set of new shocks I'm going to fit from rear of a Colorado. If I can keep the weight down I'll leave it without breaks. If not I have a pair of 70 series calipers with conversion brackets. That means I'd somehow need to rig up hydraulics for them. Doable using a master cylinder mounted somewhere. Yes I will be boxing the spring hangers just left open to make sure everything actually worked and fitted up. Thanks Shayne I'll look them up for ideas as I keep changing my mind or think of something else at 3 in the morning. Hopefully will take it to thetford Steve.

Had i found cunningham covers earlier my trailer would have looked very different . No need for ripstop and rot nonsense on a trailer and you can fold up a wet tarp no worries at all .

Seconded on the spring hangers..... you need moveable shackles one end otherwise no movement.... the spring gets longer as it flattens with load .

Google images Kozy Kamp trailer .

I'd never seen one before today .
