Hi. I'm new to this site. The name is Chris. i live in Nth Qld. I have owned an 80 series Landcruiser for about 10 years now. (1997 petrol station wagon). I got a problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I did some work on the front wheels of the cruiser the other day, and before I started, I wound down all the windows to keep the car cooler, but forgot to turn the key off. Of cause I found out later that day that I had flat batteries, so I put them on an automatic charger overnight and the following day. the automatic charger didn't turn off and the batteries went to 16volts. I drained the batteries with a 12v light, but now the aircon clutch won't engage. I have 13volts to the connection plug just before the compressor, but when I connect the compressor clutch, the voltage drops to 7 volts and the clutch wont engage. I have tried testing the clutch by hard wiring it to the battery with an inline fuse, and it engages ok but the fuse blows after about 5 or so seconds.. Any thought out there please.
