Oil overfill

I had my car serviced recently and the garage overfilled the sump to about 15 mm over the maximum mark. This is measured after the engine is cold and been standing for a couple of hours.

The issue is being corrected of course by draining some oil out before driving it much further, but my question is will this overfill have caused any damage or consequences to the engine?

Thanks.

No, ive done it myself, i just waited to the next oil change. Others may not agree but i didnt over worry about it.

15mm over the max mark isn't much. You'll probably find it'll burn out by time your next oil change is due.

Thanks very much for your comments and observations :)
