I am able to obtain current OS maps via work, but they are on the .tiff format.

I dont know what software runs this format, can anyone point me in the direction of a nav program that would allow me to use them?

I have been offered similar on .qrt format, as used by the Alpine Quest app on Android, but havent committed myself to an Android system yet.

Cheers

Pete

I think Oz Explorer can handle tiffs and I know Track Explorer can. You can order DVD's of free OS maps from Ordnance Survey these days down to 10k but they are missing the minor rights of way data e.g. BOAT, ORPA, etc.

yes Oziexplorer can handle .tiff files
http://www.oziexplorer.com/

but they would need calibrating/georeferencing in the application before you can use them for mapping.
unless! these .tiff files you refer to are GEOtiffs??
geotiffs already have the coordinate references and map datum etc embedded within them
