Parasitic power drain from main battery

What i meant was the lights can still bleed power even unlit with ignition off . Simple cheap and common issues should always be ruled out first . Remove bulbs in your tail lights and find sockets are crusty white with corrosion and there's your problem . If not open your tow socket and see how clean inside it isn't .

Two wires that shouldn't are touching each other and its typically corrosion creates the connecting bridge .
Written by someone used to dealing with corrosion on boats I presume.....
Good advice ..... I see loads of similar issues on tractors used on slurry scrapers...... cow sh1it is amazingly corrosive .
One tractor got the cab filled up to a depth of 18 inches of liquid slurry while on an umbilical system.... within the 48 hours it took us to recover it and strip the looms from the cab it had corroded all the ends from every maxi fuse..... 8 grands worth of wiring and ECU's plus labour to repair .

My alternator has just started playing up after fitting new 18 months ago. I have the 120amp version from a 100 series, not OEM, it is a pattern part from Roughtrax. I definitely would not buy this brand again.

If you have the original Denso alternator I would just buy a new genuine regulator. Denso quality is very good.

I am replacing mine with a NAPA version from eBay. Only reason I’m going non-genuine is a genuine 100 series one is a lot of money and the NAPA comes with a 5 year warranty for £150.

This is what happened to the air intake heater on mine (diesel 1HD-FT) when the relay contacts were so badly corroded, the gap between them was partially bridged. The relay had long since stopped operating but as it's connected direct to the battery it was putting a permanent draw on the batteries of almost 0.5A which was enough to flatten them to a non start state in a just few days.

Threw in a new (Chinese) alternator and no difference. Dropped from 12.7v to 9v overnight.
Will charge back up and start pulling each of the fusible AMx links to see what circuit is causing the issue
