a T-max 11.000 lbs it was the choice for the rear recovery.. and the support base was from a jeep wrangler..
first changed the position of the free spool handle..
and then prepare to cut the traverse.

Love your work there Chris. New territory for Prado winch installation. I'd like to see it with the bumper replaced over it. Don't think that 11,000 lbs was completely necessary  but lovely job. Now you just need a plasma rope so that you can throw that horrible wire in the skip

chris i dont like the plasma rope..
cause of this..

[youtube:sqrihs2n]9Q0QaGaLLcg[/youtube:sqrihs2n]

(because i dont care about the load of the car..these cars made to work as an elefant :p :p

the 11.000 lbs it was a choice with many benefits..
first of all i believe that a warn XP 9.500 -that i use to my front bumper- is more expensive (1100 euro ,2 years ago) and more strong, compare with T-max 9.500 lbs.. (450 euro)

and also T-max 9.500 , 11.000 , 12.000 had the same outer dimensions and the price is 400 euro , 450 euro , 500 euro)

so ...i choose this ..maybe for one pull per year..when i am alone without other car..

the bumper matches perfectly and no need to cut anything..(if you dont use a roller fairlead)

the only "problem" is i want to replace the aluminum fairlead (the use is for rope only) with a steel one..and its difficult to find..

the next step is to replace the rear plastic bumber with a steel one..

check to 1.45 ..the wire because of the angle touches the ground and the rocks ,stones etc will destroy this if it was a plasma rope..also a simple wire costs 60 euro and the plasma rope 350 euro...
the wire rope is cheaper and has longer life ..
also if you use the rope inisde the mud the next day you must take it out to clean and dry..the wire dont need anything..

personally i think the benefits out weight the negatives when it comes to plasma winch ropes, and id never go back to steel wire. :)

for me the huge benefit of plasma is, if i get stuck, and use the winch to free myself, there might be a chance that 50 yards later i will be stuck again and need to winch again.
with plasma i can simply wrap it around the bull bar till i need it again. where as with wire id have to spool it all back in and out again!

i also love how light it is. :D

i guess weve all got different opinions though.

+1
but i prefer to carry on my back for many times a heavy wire if i stucked continously than a lighter rope which maybe cut on the next sharp rock..
the plasma rope is good for the racing 4x4 whre the time is important..
but for us to the nature ..its ok..
