My el Cheapo Michelin digital gauge bit the bullet in the Lakes, so now I'm looking for something a bit more robust, and preferably not battery operated so it won't fail just when I need it most.

So far I've seen these:

Draper 69924 with Flex Hose:

about a tenner on ebay or here: http://www.drapertoolbox.co.uk/draper-69924-tyre-pressure-2117-68237

Then the Longacre standard gauge:

Last is this one:

Race-X Professional Tyre Pressure gauge:

from Amazon for £13.50

The ARB one is nice but I don't need a deflator as I already have some pre-set Staun deflators that work just fine, and take up very little room.

What else is there that's reliable, robust and fairly accurate?

Cheers

Sorry I don't know the answer, but I am very interested in this subject too!
Would also be interested in quality gauges that can be fitted to a compressor line (e.g. the T-Max compressor).

I have had this for a couple of years.

Lives in a little pouch in the door pocket.

Think it was about £10.00

Sorry Gary, took you for a bit of a tyre kicker. Didn't know you did it scientifically. Or is this a gift for someone close. Hmm, eh?

You have my address I believe.

So far, the most accurate ones seem to be the old type with a rod that is pushed out axially. Like this one:

That's what I've used for years now; nothing to go wrong with it and no batteries to go flat. We faffed around with a fancy deflator + gauge in Aus, but I found I got pretty accurate with just undoing the core, by the time I was ready to put the core back in it was the right pressure, just double checked it with the gauge.

Bought the Race X one for £9 off fleabay. Will report on use-ability in due course!
