Removing the electrical plug from the starter motor

Hi All
I currently have intermittent starting issues. I am wanting to conduct electrical tests and need to remove the plug shown. The arrow points to the tab on the plug that I can depress with my finger and I believe if depressed enough i should be able to pull the plug off. The trouble is there is not a lot of room and by the time i am able to depress the tab i am not able to apply sufficient force to get the plug off. Can anyone assist please?

Sacrifice a set of pliers grinding them until you can press the tab and grip . Lots of penetrating oil

Cut a V out of one of the jaws so it presses the tab down as it grips

Schooling wasn't wasted on me , still got the spirit level i was presented mainly because theres no instructions on the wrapper how to open it .
