Hi, I have just moved over from a Disco 3 to a LC 120 (2003 auto) and I was wondering if I can retro fit the cruise control switch (part number 84632-08021). I did a similar thing on the Disco - simply a matter of buying the switch and plugging it in. Anyone done the same on a 120? A search for the switch brings up loads in USA but nothing in the Uk - any ideas of a good parts supplier - cannot even find genuine Toyota parts on line?

Thanks

is there no cruise already fitted?
quite strange.
which model lc 120 have you got?

It's possible the US spec vehicles have different wiring looms to UK versions but if it's true it's a cheap route to CC. I'm not familiar with the LC120, I'm assuming it's drive-by-wire so doesn't require a separate CC ECU like earlier models?

Amayama list part 84632-08021 at $46.84US (around £30),then there'll be VAT and shipping of course which shouldn't be much. There should be no import duty on something that cheap.

I've done this on my 2004 LC3. You need the following parts -
Cruise stalk (i bought mine on ebay as it came with the connecting cable)
Clutch switch (replaces bolt on clutch that adjusts pedal height - ebay)
Steering wheel cover ( small piece that replaces a side cover on steering wheel boss - toyota)

Pain getting the connector for the clutch switch and needs a bit of delving to find the connector but use the videos to help

Luckily enough I have an auto so no problem ref clutch switch. Did you get the cruise stalk from a Uk supplier? I cannot seem to find one. If you can send me the part number you used I would be very grateful. Ta

Nothing in any breakers? Douglass valley near you (and me) had a 120 recently.

I've got cruise in my lc4, and would not be without it! I'd be surprised if this was much of a job, with modern cars a lot of the "gubbins" for ugraded options is in situ but blanked off / not enabled in the software.

Keep us posted hoy you get on!

Not a UK supplier i'm afraid but appears original spec.

The supplied wire can also be used, the surround is however incorrect, you need -
45186-58020-C0 which i bought from

There is a slight change required to the lead supplied with the cruise switch which you can see by looking through this link at pradopoint -

As you have an auto and no clutch switch it should take about an hour to do

Many thanks - that is the same item I was looking at on Ebay - I sent them a message asking for the part number but they do not seem to understand English. Anyway it is ordered now - I shall report back on how it goes.

The cruise control stalk arrived from Thailand surprisingly quickly and I have just fitted it and all is well. If you know what you are doing it is a 20 minute job but I was a bit stuck because the connector that came with the new stalk was differebt to the one fitted to the car but I managed to take the connector apart and slide the pins into the original connector - after ages trying to find out which of the 12 pins were the correct ones... the youtube video (eventually) made sense - boy is that an awful video..... and my red connector went next to the existing earth (red) and the black connector next to that, all on the bottom row. Works a treat and the only downside is that the cover which is supplied does not fit and my camera battery died as I was taking photos.... hence no pics - sorry!

All for £35 ...

Will do - the only thing that worried me a bit was removing the airbag but I just disconnected both earth leads and left it for a while before touching it.

The strange thing is that the control stalk allows me to set, reset, accelerate, decelerate, and turn off and on with two wires? How 2 wires are used for all these functions is beyond me?

Just to report that the cruise control has been fitted for a month now and everything still works as it should. A really useful, cheap and easy mod for £35. To be recommended.
