Rusty Nuts

I was wondering if anyone else has bought wheel nuts from Roughtrax. As I was getting my wheels refurbed I bought a new set of nuts from Roughtrax as the old ones were rusty. They have lasted only a few months and now look as bad as the old ones. A call to Roughtrax resulted in nothing as they weren’t interested. Although the genuine wheel nuts are pricey it is probably a better investment, that is, unless you don’t mind rusty wheel nuts.

You got to look after your customers if you want them to come back that is really shi77y of them
When I thought my starter was u/s got one from a Jap specialist near Heathrow OK Iwan sent the wrong one but after talking with them they said fit it to see if it would work I asked about getting it dirty told don't worry it would be OK So there you go great customer service and that was the first time I had used them and would use them again

2015 they went online so i guess i enjoyed their initial enthusiasm , but i've not bought much for the last few years and sounds like they have gone lax which is a crying shame .
But hey ho what business isn't when they have to employ the younger generation who are brainwashed from pre school to believe they have an automatic right to everything for nothing

Too be fair to Roughtrax .....

The wheel nuts are cheap because they are not OE quality..... I presume yours are chrome ? I got a set of black ones from them a couple of years ago and they are still good but that's paint rather than chrome .

Why don't you send them off to someone who can re -chrome them and actually put a decent amount of chrome on them ?

I appreciate they are rusty after a few months but it's winter and the muppets at the council spread salt at every opportunity ....if it had been summer you would still be happy with them ....although for the cost to them it wouldn't have harmed them to send you some new ones .

I was surprised to see aluminium wheel nuts a few years ago but looked into it and race cars use them . Just couldn't find some to fit at the time .

So much of the parts sold now are finest chinnesuim it's often better to refurb original if possible ....

Even OE on older vehicles is likely to be not made in the original factory and often is cheap Chinese versions ..... in the AG world many manufacturers offer a range of parts to keep 25+ year old tractors going ..... often marketed as " Gold Value " or the like .... this is in fact a range of parts made by a 3rd party who also sells their own versions....

Dont know how much RT ones or OEM ones are, but I got these for £30 off ebay and theyve lasted 2 years so far

Any chrome wheel nuts are going to suffer with the loosening/tightening process which will eventually damage the chrome finish. When I had my wheels refurbed I looked for some stainless steel replacements but couldn't find any at the time and as already mentioned, OEM items are very expensive, so, I settled on a set of chrome push on covers. Cheap, easy to remove/replace and look great.
