I forgot to mention in the first post, while the breakdown men were figuring how to get me off the plod arrived, I don't know if they had been called or just happened to be passing, so the busys just had to get involved "Have you been drinking Sir, how fast were you going round that corner, and would you just blow in this bag" me saying "Why are your chips too hot" didn't help things. No, actually they were very polite and friendly, we had quite a nice little chat, he used to go off-roading, (probably in an LR) and then the WPC standing right next to him asked me again all the same things her mate had just asked but they let me keep the tube I had to blow in as a memento of our meeting.
The daft thing is Chas, had you been going a little too fast and heaven forbid had a dram or two, you probably wouldn't have been anywhere near the bollard rounding the bend anyway.
My personal experiences with the police in the U.K. Have always been very courteous even when I've been in the wrong and getting booked. All that was a long time ago, but having lived here for 17 years with relatively minor brushes with the law (speeding on occasions and minor accidents) we should be proud of the UK police and the way they behave.
JMO and ME of course, others will have their reasons for a different view I'm sure.
