suspecting front diff is stuck locked .......................

You were right Nick the snap ring is a bugger , no trouble getting it open but you can't lift it out , took two young fella's at a local and very well equipped garage half hour to get it out !

Other than that the jobs easier than removing the prop . Only regret is not looking up the casing bolts torque for putting it back together , they were tight to undo and I could only put them back as tight as I dare , my max ellery is left with the majority of my tools near the boat

What a difference to drive though like the truck is suddenly a ton lighter and I realize now it hasn't felt right since I replaced the clutch and the truck sat for 2 months waiting for the uprated clutch to be delivered .

It’s almost stopped raining so I might get paint finished today , in the mean time here’s another little job off the list

Halfords don't have dialectic grease but I found plumbers grease in the shed from when I ........ I mean when highly qualified professionals rebuilt our 5 year old combi boiler that experts wrote off as unrepairable .

Sideways is much better than upside-down and very shiny

Fairy liquid works well to remove all the supermarket pressure washer wax which never looks good but protects paint from shitehawks .

80 series has an auto limited slip in the transfer box which when it fails effectively locks the centre diff . I removed it so now I have an open centre diff until i lock it with the gear lever .

Bollox I just found this in the garden and it has to come from my transfer box

Anyone know if I have to take the casing apart to refit it ?

Its the oil pump spindle so i have to do it all again  at least at -2 degrees it should be dry in the back lane .

Yeah I've not been anywhere so no harm done , probably do it in an hour now i'm familiar with it , prob nuts are the most tedious part .

On a centre diff related note I went out today for the weekly shop and still a lot of snow around. After half a mile or so something didn't feel right, especially on turns. Then I realised I'd pressed the CD lock switch instead of the HRW and driving into the Sun I'd missed the lights on the dash. What a clown! A quick turn off onto a snow packed side road and a short reversing manoeuvre disengaged it.

Imagine that same feeling when its not locked only its not so obvious and severe , occasional skipping of a wheel on full lock turn but not always . Trucks working harder for less speed . Suspect your viscous coupling .
