Hi all, I’m new to this site and am looking for help.
I have a 3.0 D4d lwb 2008 120. Have just had four new callipers pipes etc and when bleeding and pressurising the Master cylinder has failed so it has an intermittent hard or soft pedal action making it unusable.
I have tried to find the master cylinder everywhere but even Toyota Uk have it on back order at £3k plus vat!
I have tried anamaya and yoshi. There is one in spain but obviously LHD model so I’m worried that it isn’t going to work on my RHD cruiser. Part number I’m looking for is 4702560101. Can anyone direct me to one, o confirm if the LHD version is the same as RHD.
Thanks for in advance any info or advice really don’t want to write off a sub 100k car for the sake of a master cylinder.

Are you sure its the master cylinder, rare enough itself but is it possible the motor which powers the accumulator has failed, if its that then Electric Motor Repairs, armatures, London, Rewinds, Robson and Francis - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club] are the people to fix that for you.
If its definately the master cyl, presumably air has entered? if it has then you might need Techstream to help purge the ABS unit and the rest of the system of air, haven't had that problem myself but have read its difficult to purge air from the ABS unit without techstream running through its brake bleeding sequence.

One would hope that a seal kit would be available for the master cyl if the seals have failed.

Many thanks, for the response. I really have no idea as not technically proficient. I’m just working off what the garage is telling me. They tried pressurised bleed with ignition on the run the abs and they are telling me it’s the master cylinder. I contacted a rebuild company who said they are non serviceable without parts being available. I just need it up and running as already been gone for two weeks to get to this point. I just can’t believe that these aren’t available for a 2008 vehicle.

Would anyone know if the master cylinder would be the same from a Toyota pickup truck if so there is a specialist pick up breakers up Bradford way

Toyota as far as i'm aware don't sell the master cylinder itself seperately, only as part of the complete unit (master cyl, ABS, pressure accumulator), but a quick look on Ebay shows numerous sellers of new aftermarket master cyls for 120 series of your year, circa £80.

I haven't had to do this full techstream bleeding sequence (simple old school bleeding did the trick when new calipers were needed) but somehow i doubt simply turning the ignition on and bleeding through will do the same job as the correct software going through the sequence for one of our vehicles if the fluid level has been allowed to drop and air has entered the ABS unit.
In your OP you say you have intermittent soft then hard pedal, that doesn't sound like a master cylinder failure to me, i would have expected permanent spongy useless brake pedal at the very best, why would the master cyl fail anyway.
I think you need a competent workshop with the correct Toyota software (or its equivalent) to purge and flush the system thoroughly before going into the huge expense of a complete brake unit replacement.

Many thanks Juddian, perhaps I’ll collect t it and drive it carefully to another garage that I trust and let them have a look.
