Insurers want a licence check code - which doesn't work - so write in via snail mail and wait for a reply . Phone them 3 weeks later and get errrmmmm dunno just wait .

Insurers are like yeah its normal however you have 7 days or we cancel .

I just tried the DVLA system and managed to get some check codes out

Check code works fine for the mrs licence .

I couldn't hire a vehicle about 9 months back because it wouldn't work for me and whats the point in writing in so i can hire the car i need today next month ?

I can only guess they forgot to add national insurance numbers originating in the British Isles to the database ?

07/05/2024 sent them a letter with a photocopy showing both sides of my driving licence . I phone them 3 times a week a minimum of half hour each time and on Friday i finally got verbal acknowledgement that they did receive my letter on the 9th of May and it will looked at tomorrow .

Today I got the typical response of erm dunno maybe you should wait for a bit .

It works when i put the mrs details in , but for me it says error please try again .

Its been vaguely suggested on phone that my address is wrong which is driving me nuts because what bloody difference does it make ? you don't have to take your driving test again because you moved house .

No but if your address is wrong and they need to send you a fine for example where does that go?

To the address on the licence they sent to me which i returned photocopies of 2 months ago . The same address that was on my very first licence when i passed .

For the second time this week they claim this should have been sorted early May and I was promised it was top priority .

My offer to drive to Swansea was declined as was my request to give me Julie Lennard's home address so I could go wake her up .

"we can only advise you wait a little longer" and never mind i get a weekly letter threatening to cancel my car insurance or that I was offered a full time job which went to somebody else because I couldn't offer a driving check code .

Somebody needs to go check on her , only logical explanation i can think of for all this nonsense is she died of covid and so nobody told the dvla that lock down is over and they can go back to work .

Further conversations have made it really quite clear to me that the error is simply a typo at their end entered into the system by somebody drunk on wine eating crisps and watching tv while enjoying full pay for not working .

And i got it at last , no apology or even response I simply phoned up got all the usual questions despite my saying they should recognize my voice by now and was told to get a pen so i can write down my check code after months of feeling like i may as well be arguing with my satnav .

I sent a bike logbook in for an amendment at the end of November and got it back 10 days later yet it takes them 7 months to sort out a licence problem! WTF!

Think it started 3 months prior to my writing a letter , and never mind the job offers mentioned in my complaint and now gone because I could not prove I had a full and clean driving licence .

Digitization of Gov my ass , dictatorship by default "because its the computers fault" some halwit somewhere down the line spelt my name wrong .
