Thread for UK owners of Troopys - 75s & 78s

I was wondering if it makes sense to start a thread for UK owners of 75s and 78s. I don’t know how many we are in total and how many are on this forum. Would be good to know.

I think we may have some questions / issues (that can be different from those 80# etc) and would be good to compare ideas and notes on. Also on sourcing parts etc for what are pretty uncommon cars over here.
I suspect we are all at various stages of builds and modifications so might be useful to compare on that too. I know there is a 70 section on this forum.
Finally if there is interest it might be fun to meet up some time, maybe at another organised event (eg overland show)
Lets see what the response is.

So I will start:

1. I am based near Portsmouth and am building up my 78 for long term overlanding. So aiming to fit many of the obvious long term travel mods. See photo below.

VDJ78 purchased in Australia 2016, and imported to the UK 2019.

Couple of questions if I may:

How are the side awning attached?
I can imagine riv-nuts into the skin of the bodywork, or maybe bolts all the way into the interior?

And, @Bmonck what is your auxiliary fuel tank? An ARB or similar ex-Aus or ??/
I`ve now mounted my spare on the back so the under body stowage is now a wide open space! (Apart from the support bar)

Correct, awning held on with riv-nuts.

I also have a long range tank installed, it a Longranger TR58 tank fitted where the original 90L was installed.

On my 75 the original tank is on the RHS, not the rear, so that TR58 would not be a straight swop.
Having now put my spare wheel on the door, there is space there......but the wheel carrier might need to see an angle grinder.

My extra tank is factory fitted. So I have 2 x 90 L tanks.

And I also agree - getting parts is not easy. so sharing info would help.
Im actually looking for advise/help with front diff actuator (see earlier post today) which doesnt work, but Higgy replied with some useful info that they can be repaired....

Not a UK owner but a ZA owner
Purchased a 2004 78 Series 1HD FTE Troopy with 240000km on the clock in Nov 21
When I got it it had the fugly Gen 1 AluCab hercules pop top and just a set of drawers in the rear
I then commenced a fit out suitable for overlanding starting with removing the fugly AluCab Hercules and replacing it with the Alu-Innovations Kronos78 Pop top
