Guys I have a set of 205R 16 tyres on my 60 cruiser.

There is no indication on the tyre of its profile. Rims are 16x6j. Does anyone have any idea what profile these would be? I'm guessing at 80 :?:

If it does't say what the profile is then its usually 100, same goes with 9.00r16 or 900r16 (9.00 or 900 meaning 9")

AFAIK its 100%, 205.16 on my daily rustbucket are tall and narrow.

Andy

Yep they are tall and skinny for sure... so with a 100% profile that would make the tyres equivalent to an 8.00r16 and hence LT235/70/16, overall about 29".

Thanks guys I'll see what I can get in that size.

I have decided that rather than scrapping the 60, ( I do love the shape much more than the 80) I will try and deal with the tin rot and keep the truck as original as it is.

Maybe I should start a restoration thread on this

From my land rover days, it was a standard fit to LR 90s. It was a 205/80/16 but marked up as a 205/16. Next size up was a 235/70/16.

Where no aspect ratio is stated you can assume it's 80%
Weirdly i did once see a tyre marked 85%

Right, now I'm confused. At 100% aspect the 205R would be 31inches.
At 80% the tyre would be 29inches same as 235/70/16

I've roughly measured the tyre and it seems to be 29".
So can anyone confirm if the replacement tyre of 235/70/16 is correct?

However a tyre place yesterday suggested a replacement of 31x10.5x15.. That would equate to 100% aspect no?

Anyone?

You're going to put 15" rims on now? (Answer to your question on the aspect ratio is no - at 100%, you'd have (10.5x2)+15 = 36". A 31x10.5x15 is about an 85% ratio)

I'm with Paul H - 205/80s are a fairly common size in the medium 4x4s. The base model of the Colorado came with that size tyre. The 235/70 will be close, just a bit wider - depends whether you want the 60 to still have the marie biscuit look or not!

No not interested in 15" rims, was the suggestion from the tyre place.

Hey, don't you just love Marie biscuits?

With no profile indicated, then the tyre must be taken as an 80% series
