Wheel cylinder confusion

Hi,
Can anyone help me with my wheel cylinder dilemma?
I have an HJ 47 8/1980, with duel cylinder front drums. I am about to replace the cylinders but am confused about their orientation.
The old ones are marked L and R and were on the correct sides, but not orientated the same way as the diagram in the workshop manuals (I have Ellery and Haynes).
For example, the front cylinder on the left hand side had the cylinder's adjusting wheel at the top, but the diagram in the manual shows the the cylinder in that position with the wheel at the bottom.
I thought I should clarify this because the orientation of the cylinders will also affect the orientation of the shoes. ie; there is a short side and a long side.
Anyone had this problem?
