So with the inaugral 'Lincomb Punch Comp' looming & that man Rubie boasting about how brill his new sooper winch is going to be, I figured I'd better get me thumb out me **** & start playing catchup...
I've had a Goldfish winch & tray rolling around the boot for yonks now but the tray needed some modifications to make it fit the 80. I spent a few evenings chopping a load of plates up from some 6mm flat bar I had lying about & this is what I have come up with... Just picked it up from my pet metal gluist on the way home & after a bit of adjusting with the 3lb precision lump hammer, its on:
The feet of the winch are level with the bottom of the chassis rails & looking at it now, I can see sort of how I'm going to build me bumper off it. I was going to make the bumper independent of this but... Hey, who knows whats going to happen to it!!!
Pics - the painted bit is the tray that I got from Goodwinch & have cut the heck out of!!!
Had to put the bling rope guide on it
Picking up the holes on the top of the chassis rail...
& underneath... You can see I had to use a bit of plate to extend the Goodwinch tray...
There'll be another plate on the outside of the chassis rails eventually to support the body of the bumper so that gap around the edges will disappear & the tray will have even more support.
There's going to be some interesting angles on this bumper when its done...
Hey, everyones got to start somewhere!!!
