Window switches / panels - common board issues? and ridiculous prices

The passenger window switch was physically broken (actual switch part you press / pull was missing) on my cruiser when I bought it. It's the SWB model so the whole switch panel just has 4 switches, each front window / the door lock and the window lock.

The passenger window still operates with the passenger door switch. The passenger window also used to operate if i pressed the remains of the switch parts with a screw driver, however this seems to have stopped working now too. So has the board deteriorated in the meantime?

I bought a replacement switch panel in the breakers months ago, exact same part number, but only got around to actually fitting it now, and lo and behold it's not working properly. It lets the drivers window down but not up and it doesn't operate the passenger window at all. The door lock switch seems to work ok.

Is it common for the actual electrical board (I assume there is a board) with this switch panel to go faulty and can it be repaired easily with a bit of soldering? Has anyone had them repaired by a crowd specifically offering such a repair? Or what's the issue likely to be here? I don't notice loads of threads posted on the forum regarding failed window switches so it can't be too common an issue?

Also, why are these switch panels so ridiculously expensive from Toyota? I think I saw Toyota Ireland asking €600 or such for these. Amayama are charging €162 but still crazy. I tried sourcing a new Chinese one when I was looking into this before but couldn't find the specific SWB panel and just bought a breakers one thinking it was less hassle.

Toyota part no. is 84040-60060 if anyone can link me to a new Chinese equivalent

Take them to a computer repair shop and any decent one should be able to test and if needed repair it . Might test as fine and the problem is in wiring to switch .

Toyota have a fortunate habit of using the same part on many models..... I bet the same switches are used on loads of comparable year Toyotas ....probably a Yaris or the like of the same vintage under the door trim has the same switches.....
I found Celica ones are the same as an 80 if you take the trim off..... fortunately had some new ones laying around from rallying days when we had GT4's and stripped them out when we replaced door glass with Lexan .
