I was deleting some pics on my phone and came across this I took a couple of years ago. I know its not big or clever. What put me off was the amount of debris thats probably piled up on the right hand side under the water.

Absolutely no chance I'd go through that.

I had this last year and turned back. The river normally is only 6" deep. I was later shown a video of the flash flood as it arrived in a 1m wall of water

I'd tackle that on the Berg but don't think I'd risk the LC as mine's not prepped for wading. Probably 2' of water there max.

I recon you did it CG, but it's hard to say whether I would or not.

It doesn't look too deep and the flow looks doable. I have no snorkel, but I'm good for 33" with some safety on top.

It is only a photo, so real life may have given it a no...

Only if i knew the road, looks to dip after the bridge.

There's a road through our main village that catches people out. In flood the worst bit looks 6 to 8 inches deep, the dip in the road makes it about 3ft, pulled a few cars out.
Have seen it where the fence is under water!! The river ouse is about 50yards to the left and houses are built a good height up.

This Is near me too and a popular spot to find flooded cars, note the depth marker as it floods that often!!
Had water over the bonnet through there.

For me it would depend on the circumstances.
Out for fun, no chance
Getting home, go around
Getting to somebody at risk of injury or injured when you know the road and with no other/better way round-assess it well, favour the left side and get through without undue delay.
Good points, it's a known depth shown by the railings, you can see the edges of the road, the road is known to you, you're unlikely to be swept downstream due to the railings.
Bad points, it may increase in depth, you could get pushed against the railings and stuck until they give way, the road could be washed away underneath, you could block the road and prevent more urgent/capable vehicles getting through.
50:50 call dependent on if the gain outweighed the risk.

Personally, in an 80, I wouldn't give it a second thought. I'm not a gung-ho idiot like some, but that's well within the capability of an 80. Looking at the 'before and after' depths on the posts, regardless of the speed of flow, there's a very solid bottom, so yes, I'd drive through that. I've been through significantly deeper and faster water than that. The 80 has a std wading depth of 700 mm. So I'd tackle that without a snorkel too.

You lads need to man up. Go and try the Corwen car-wash. Even at low levels it's more than that. Forget there being a pub at the other side. It's your duty to lead and show lightweights how it's done.

That would put a different perspective on things, I would go through in that case.
Not an experienced off road/wading driver.......yet, so have lots to learn

Wading a river in flood over a road is a whole different ballgame to a known crossing or river drive. There's a lot more chance of obstructions or changes in level, lifted manhole covers or washed out road that cannot be seen. This could be drivable one minute and not the next with that level of flow.

And of course wading standing deep water is VERY different to entering fast flowing water that may bell be shallower. It's rather disconcerting to be aiming at the opposite bank and being pushed downstream by the pressure of water.

Certainly a hard one to call. If you can go round & avoid it "better safe than sorry" irrelevant of the capability of the truck.

I had a incident some years ago here to where they where digging up the roads for maintenance in laying pipes and then there was torrential storm covering up all dug up areas with water in many streets here.

I drove the 80 specifically because its what you do in these conditions right?

Had a few deliveries to hand over which were in the worse areas. In doing so I fell stuck because the N/S wheel dropped into the dug up corridor next to the pavement so there it was stuck!! Arrrh Couldn't see because the water had covered up everything. Tried everything simply couldn't gain traction with more than half the wheel below ground and pouring rain still it was all over.

Clearly the workforce had abandoned work and had to wait to the next day to get one of there heavy duty vehicles to pull me out.

Driven plenty water crossings over the years and flooded roads, had twitchy bum moments a few times (a deep corwen car wash being one)

A lot of the ones round York I know the roads (still cautious though)
Couple of years back we had bad flooding and the 80 was bonnet deep a fair few times, it wades very well even when the auto box gets water in!

If i knew the place i wouldn't even pause because if you can walk through it its not going to shift a couple of tonne .
If i didn't know the place i might get out first and look for signs a bridge may have collapsed and finding none drove through it anyway .

Would be confident With that one having done several bonnet deep rivers in New Zealand a few years ago in the 61. But not done any wading in the 60 yet as the diff and gearbox breathers need extending and need a winch just in case.
The pic looks only a few inches deep but get out and check with a long stick if in doubt

No, i didnt cross it. Only because the dog and mrs were with me..

she did offer to get out though, but wasnt going to chase me down river if anything went wrong cos it would be my own stupid fault..

as chris said, next time ill man up, and maybe go from the other end after visiting the pub..
