What we do at weekends whenever we get the chance.

I am glad you had fun Andy but I'd be pissed if my cruiser came out of a track with that much damage

" Go to war, be prepared to get shot at"
TBH Stu, I only use it for green laning. I always enjoy the drive to where we are going as I like driving that particular 80 more than most I've had. I wouldn't have taken yours down where I took that at the weekend as damage was bound to occur. I wasn't pissed at all, perhaps a little put out at having to spend a morning sorting the bodywork out and having a rear wing that didn't have the same pinstripes as the rest but otherwise my intention is to use it to destruction however long it takes and just enjoy it for what it it is.

sounds like a good trip Andy, apart from the breakdown. We used to get out that way a lot and it showed. Best to just remove the wheel arch extensions now and get it over with lol

This is it mine still has the new to me feel. My last one I would have been right along side you. And probably on my side. We have some great local tracks that I don't do any more as it will scratch or damage it others its just to tall to fit down.

Best get on with this, it won't paint itself.

Back from being blasted, hopefully get it installed before the next meet. Needed to be able to take a 315 as a spare as it won't fit underneath. Looks like I'll be emptying all my part full rattle cans before top coat.

Did you notice the spacers in the chassis rails for the no f'ing way this is coming off bolts Andy?

So, I thought I'd better get on with tidying up the battle damage to the rear wing. Tests run out and I wanted to present it looking better than damaged. With a bit of a light bulb idea and having seen a similar repair, using sheet aluminium I thought I'd chop out a section of one of my spares 80's and pop it over the damaged area.

The damage.

Section chopped out of a Scottish Highlands truck I bought at least 10 years ago. This was really badly corroded but yielded an "Amazon" gearbox for my GS and a whole load of bits others have benefited from.

Trimmed up to fit straight on top of the damaged wing. Removed the soundproof/ anti drumming stuff so it would fit.

Ran 2 beads of Tiger seal round and stuck it on with as few rivets to hold it in place while it set. For me it is ok, it will be laned again soon and the "new" paintwork will soon blend in.
I think it looks a bit " Industrial".

Next job, refit the bumper with the swing out carrier which is now painted black.

Even the rivets are spaced out exactly spot on

If you're gonna do it do it right.

spaced at 60mm, except the front edge which were 63-4mm to make them evenly spaced. I used 25mm masking tape from the edge as a guide to get them drilled straight.

Popping the rivets, 76 in all, made my arm ache a bit. I thought it was never going to end.

Andy defender dude lomas......its got a ring to it you know. It might catch on.....
