EGT Temps Pre & Post Turbo

I'm agreeing with Blown80 adding more and more fuel will end up with an inefficient burn with one of the results being increased heat, right up until you start washing the bores and filling the sump. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Why have a spacer in between two fixed bearings?

I think you're on the money with it stopping people from putting too much load on. Seems engineers have to take into account ham fisted monkeys that tighten everything until their sphincter twitches. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Fitting an Air Locker to a '90' front diff ??

I think what Trevor is trying to say is if it can survive his use it can't be all that bad!

    Picture sizes!!

Shayne that doesn't actually reduce the image file size, the bandwidth used is exactly the same all you're doing is opening an image larger than your screen and your laptop is then optimising the image to best fit your screen.

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

Shayne in case you're unaware the standard temp. gauge is very unresponsive, they struggle to rise above the standard halfway point until the engine is REALLY starting to run hot. I'm pretty sure Trevor and others have linked to some electronic gauges in the past that are much better at judging...

Excessive play in transfer box KZJ90

No problem, not trying to point you in the wrong direction but having not heard the noise it's hard to tell. I have known bad thrust bearings to cause a clunk in the past though. Hope you find the source. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Unknown part on my LJ70

I know a few people that have driven cars will welded rear diffs every day and there's only a couple things to worry about really. You will need to be more careful in the wet. It will skip and squeak at low speed in cars parks etc. Your turning circle will increase a little. Rear tyre wear...

Rusted rear body mounts - bloody land cruiser!

On my old shorty there was plenty of access when replacing the rear mounts but it did have a body lift. If you need the body lifted some to get access I imagine you'll get away with only undoing the 2 rearmost mounts and at a push the next 2 down. You should be able to get a scissor jack...

    4,7 V8 - power loss during acceleration

Ideally you want to get it plugged in and see if it's stored any error codes but to me it sounds like it could be a maf sensor.

Looks like we're going to France

If you have a look on some of the campervan and motorhome forums it seems a lot of the time gas isn't actually used, they just work very quietly playing on the fact that you're likely to have had a couple drinks. The small camping areas set up outside towns are said to be safer than the...

    EGRs

Not familiar with the setup on 80s so this might be irrelevant but on a previous car I had the EGR valve was linked to the anti-shudder valve and blocking off the vacuum pipe to the EGR had the same effect, down on power. Turned out this was because the anti-shudder valve was essentially working...

Woman killed by a TOW BALL!!!

He's quite right, and the other thing to do is do them up tight then back them off a quarter turn. I'll always use a bridle where possible, spreading the load is beneficial but it also helps to lessen the shock.

    Injector Flow Rates

I don't think much progress has been made yet, I know he's getting the parts in ready, he currently has an Eaton M45 supercharger with uprated pulley set for more boost and a turbo from a Volvo truck that he is planning to run as well as having the standard turbo turned into a hybrid. He's in...

    "Pimp" The Overland/Weekend Camper Build

Not keen on the front for an overlander. Any plans for the interior? I reckon a small fridge for your beers, some leather seats and maybe some good strong storage and you'd have a really nice useful place to sit.

    This weekend...

Totally with you Shayne. Apart from having an idiot behind the controls the biggest danger to bikers is every other bugger on the road. The throttle does work both ways, and as far as I'm aware every bike these days comes fitted with brakes, certainly every bike I've owned has! Bikes aren't...

I don't know about anyone else but when I say to someone "call it a drink" I don't really expect anything more than a bit of gratitude and maybe a favour in the future. Maybe I should up my rates.

Engine hard to start, then starts and dies 5mins later, then wont start, Help!

Some likely culprits are the pipes on top of the fuel tank. The pickup pipe and associated bits. They might look fine but they are known to go porous.
  44. mrdelmonti

Engine hard to start, then starts and dies 5mins later, then wont start, Help!

It won't be the fuel, these engines will run on anything remotely oil like. My money is still on air in the system.
  45. mrdelmonti

Engine hard to start, then starts and dies 5mins later, then wont start, Help!

If there's a fuel leak, air can and will get in the system which cause it to miss, shudder and die on the cylinder the air leak is on. Eventually. If there's air getting in there then it's possible its getting sucked into all four cylinders, hence it cutting out.

Only just spotted the additions to this thread. Too bloody right I'm a good mate! Never known a gearbox so awkward. Oh and for blanking off the egr just do what I did with Chewy, stick a ball bearing in the vacuum that actuates it. Saves making plates up and the hassle of taking it off if...

Good to hear you enjoyed it, told you N44 are a friendly bunch. Chris I'd keep an eye on Trevor at the next Lincomb, by the sounds of it he's getting a bit close to your 80. The last thing you want to wake up to is Trevor sprawled over the bonnet blowing it kisses!
