Which Makita twin drill set?

I'm debating going for a Makita cordless twin drill set, 18V Li-Ion probably because that's what I've seen builder types using. I've heard that you can get nylon gearboxes (naff apparently) or metal gearboxes which are supposed to last.

Looking for an impact drill and "normal" drill.

Having been on the Makita website, they don't go into that level of info. Anybody got a set that they can recommend with the model numbers?

I've been looking a bit at these lately two. Besides the metal gear boxes the other big one seems to be the battery size and type ~1.3ah or the 4ah batteries. As a general DIYer is 4ah li-ion overkill?

I've got both and the Li-on are far superior to the 1.3ah! Lighter, more powerful, last longer and quicker charging!

It is expensive for a diy tool but there very good quality and will last years. Mine have been worked hard over the last 5+ years I've had them and there still going strong. For the first few years I was using them everyday on building sites.

FYI there is a 5ah drill and battery on its way shortly for those wanting to spend there hard earned cash.

It's the first time I've bought a decent quality cordless and I debated just getting a drill and doubling up for screw driver duties but I'm glad I didn't because the impact screw driver is brilliant compared to a non impact drill/driver. 4Ah x2 is a lot of drilling / screwing

Our site lads use that Makita bundle that Ben suggested but other contractors also buy the Dewalt suggested by Jon... I reckon they're both excellent kits, just depends on your local supplier & how much you can get it for

I've got a right angled Dewalt that is very good for getting into awkward places but not very well balanced for normal use so was thinking of just a single rather than twin extra drill, I've just put an offer in on eBay for another Dewalt.

Just had my £105 offer accepted for a brand new Dewalt Dcd735-C2 14.4V 1.5Ah Li-Ion Cordless Drill.

Blue, DLX2005M. I'm doing a lot rental property turnarounds for a mate at the moment plus other ad hoc day rate general maintenance work (not what I do but it pays the bills) so these will earn their keep.

They might not be cheap but they'll last you a lifetime, the only thing that seems to die is the batteries and they're easily replaced
