for my transport :icon-biggrin:

( MOT'd and taxed this morning)

I had thought about selling it due to lack of use. A quick post MOT ride out soon put paid to that notion.

They're great mate but ride safe. My old buisnes partner was killed last night on his.

Sorry to hear that Karl i've been there too many times , there's nothing you can do and it will never make sense .

Thought it sounded a bit rough when you pulled up this afternoon Andy. But that trick of putting sand in the oil just before you sell it sounds really clever!

Yes,sad news indeed. You really do have to have your wits about you when on a bike these days. it really is " one false move....."

Full M/C licence nearly 40 years but I have told someone who has been interested in the "Bird" for a while to come and see me.

I enjoyed my 100 miles out today but found myself questioning why I was on it.

I love fast bikes but whenever I get on one I'm reminded of why i dont have one........................

I would kill myself for sure! The amount of power through the back wheel is incredible!

Pull the throttle back, look down at the speedo and with in seconds your doing 80-90mph! :icon-surprised:

I do want another dirt bike though, I find them more fun and I'm not in constant fear of my life! :icon-twisted:

Me too, I used to have a Honda 750 VFR, got rid because I was going to lose my licence or my life, I do miss it though.

Guys your supporting the myth that bikes are dangerous because there fast . I'd say 99% of bike accidents result from an error that has nothing to do with the rider , mechanical failure or diesel spills or "i didn't see him" quickly followed up with the instinctive defense "he must have been going very fast" .

You are right Shayne, but because they are fast there is less time to react before you hit something solid even when through no fault of the rider, so in that respect they are dangerous.

Totally with you Shayne. Apart from having an idiot behind the controls the biggest danger to bikers is every other bugger on the road.

The throttle does work both ways, and as far as I'm aware every bike these days comes fitted with brakes, certainly every bike I've owned has!

Bikes aren't dangerous because they're fast, they're dangerous because people don't look for them, some riders don't take that into account, and if you're head isn't together it's easy to get carried away.

I will ride a bike until my body can't take it anymore, there's a sensation you get on a bike that I can't recreate doing anything else.

Speed and the power of bikes can also get you out of bother though Chas.

They are great and you really get a feeling of freedom when on them. The buzz of the power is crazy.

You see thats my issue! :shifty:

I'm not saying bikes are dangerous because their fast, I'm saying I would be a danger to myself because I wouldnt be able to not go fast!

I will never lose my love of bikes and i still want another but the sad fact is i'm waiting for my leg to break and only when it does will i find out if i'll keep it , having a bike just stacks the odds against me . Incidentally i was one of the rare few riders that a court found 100% innocent of any contributing factor to the accident .

Many many moons ago, I was a 'Star Rider' instructor - keeping the kids alive for the first few weeks. I did the Advanced Riders course with the Police and I leaned a lot from that. When the kids on their mopeds couldnt get through the cones set up as the course was too tight for their bike, I used to jump on my GS1000S and show them it could be done - I want another bike but.....one day ;)

I don't ride (motor)bikes any more because I can't trust myself on a high speed machine.

I'd have an old tourer though, plodding along at 50 mph in the countryside on a summers day still appeals to me .

I'll echo that. Unfortunately back in 2004 I suffered a stroke which luckily (compared to some) has left me relatively unscathed apart from a slight loss of balance so I thought stopping biking was probably a good idea. I could still ride OK but I figured in an emergency it could be a problem.
I'm fine sitting behind the wheel but if you've seen me wobbling round the field at Lincomb now you know why.
