    Crank damage?

Looks like the soft surface of that shell has smudged over the steel body blocking the oil hole. Not sure what you say the cause is. The crank pins are very hard so if the soft shell of the bearing has not gone down to the steel then it should be OK. Also if the crank pin does not show damage...

What is the world coming to?

Changed energy supplier and I had to agree to have a smart meter. A letter arrived asking me to ring them for an appt but I was then told I'm not in an area where they fit smart meters.

Can't understand what has happened to that piston. Looks like seriously high mileage or seriously low on oil at some time. Might be worth getting a used engine. I know 80 breaker might have one and he might have one you can hear running.

That belt looks a lot older than the ones I've taken off mine at 60k miles each. Getting the head back on is much worse than removing it. I lowered mine on with block and tackle very carefully in place. But the worst bit was doing up all those head bolts. I was knackered. It's 50/50 chance...

What is the world coming to?

Hi Traction man. When I bought the land the Land Registry must have alerted them. As you say there is nothing they can do. They say to phone them if I don't need a licence but why waste my time? I will probo write to the PM and say I am being harassed. I wrote to the PM when some Gov Dept wrote...

What is the world coming to?

A few years ago I bought a small parcel of land at the back of our garden. There was an electricity meter there and also a water meter. As I never intended to use them I took their readings for security. Then I started getting bills for standing charges even though I did not occupy the land. I...

Not like the old days when people had a proper education and respect for others. I have been with Sky since 1993. In a telephone query to them I changed my package. I should look at the rocker holders etc under the rocker cover. When a piston hits a valve the energy is transferred through the rocker to the rocker shaft and its holders, all of which might be damaged.

How many miles on the belt? Was it Toyota supplied? Looks like the camshaft has seized thus stripping the teeth off the belt? Be very interested in what you find. My condolences.

Help! - Mangled Locking Wheel Nut. Any Tips?

I don't think it necessary to remove the spinning tin tube from the locking nut. Hammering the extractor on would soon chew through that to the head of the bolt. Not sure if the extractor would chew into Toyota locking wheel nuts. They may well be hardened.

    80-Series - No forward drive

The centre dif prevents wind up re front and rear axles. The VC runs in parallel with the centre dif so if it detects front axle going faster than rear it locks up so drive is restored to the front until a normal patch of road is reached and the VC disconnects. Works the other way round as well...
