A couple of questions about the knuckles please

Frank, I am staggered actually at just how well those inner oil seals actually work and survive you know. The shaft won't always spin perfectly centrally, it moves laterally as well when cornering and as you say moves in and out of the axle. I appreciate the potion of the axle where the seal sits is ground but it's metal to rubber contact with only minimal lubrication from one side. If you ever slip one onto a shaft on the bench (even a badly worn shaft) you'll see just how tight they fit too. And all for around a tenner. I reckon it's one of the hardest working pieces on an 80. Add to that people running the diff dry and not greasing the hubs properly, or maintaining the bearing preload and it's even more amazing that they hang on as long as they do.
