Quite enjoying this thread. Don't know much about Thatcher- i was pre-teen south African in her time.

I have more letterheads. Some have raised multicoloured letters built up with sealing wax. They must have cost a fortune to make but in those days the only thing you saw of your customer was their letterhead so it had to be good. Did you notice the dates? one 1910!!

These are letters from a time when Britain ran the world. I found them when surveying a factory in 1980. There was an attic with millions of letters there. When I started in industry in 1965 little had changed and in the atmosphere in the factory where I worked you could sense the history. All gone now.

How wonderful these are! Works of art.

And the courtesy in the writing, "We are, Dear Sir, Truly yours" ... just wonderful!
