Auto to manual box swap ball park cost ?

Just curious because i sometimes look at Amazons and think hmmm maybe ... if it had a gearbox instead of a go pedal .

It's not a job i would attempt myself so i imagine the parts and labor bill would be steep .

Would anyone care to offer an educated guess at what the conversion might cost ?

Gearbox
Flywheel and bolts
New clutch kit
Pedal box
Clutch slave cylinder, master cylinder and pipelines.
Gear stick boots and centre console
Manual propshafts front and back.
Manual cross member, gearbox mount and chassis mounts.

The gearbox cross member mount will be in the wrong location. So a bit of a pain to fit the manual member and chassis side mounts x4.

If the auto box is the full electronic type you would need to tat about with the wiring.
If you dont run big wheels the gear ratios in the axles will be out when going auto to manual.

An idea whats involved. . Quite an expensive operation I would say. Best to buy a manual if you can!!

Pretty sure that the 4Runner/Surfs have different ECU's for Autos and Manuals, so I'd not be unsurprised if the 80 didn't have the same problem; another thing to think about...

Both of my motors are auto and prefer them to manuals.
Can you not find a manual to buy?

Why not look for a a manual 100 they do come up every now and again. I have driven a few now.

I'm not actively looking for one it just a late night browsing thing and over a time i have come to realize i only the 100's might be an improvement on my truck , more because they are newer than for any other reason .

Click on 100 ads and one of them will have a manual box and to look at it i'm inclined to think it was owned by a gentleman farmer who has allowed the 30 staff he employs to use it at will while remaining blissfully unaware they all hate him with a vengeance

It's not an upgrade and i have no real want of one but i occasionally see a minter from around 2007 and think it would be nice to be ahead of the game instead of playing catch up all the time .

That is a very high spec for one with a manual. All I have seen have been very basic.

Why not buy the right car shayne then have it wrapped if you want a black one. I would not worry about the colour but the right spec and condition.

That's the kind of thing i have been looking at because i like the interior but that's the only real appeal apart from age . I don't want one enough to compromise i just got to thinking auto gears are 10 a penny and i wonder if its a straight swap to fit a manual .

I think a smaller vehicle is fine with a manual box but the 100 is a big beast for one....

Hummer H2 was fun but even that monster of an auto soon got boring because all i could do was steer and blip the throttle .
