Hello group! I am brand new to everything Land Cruiser and would love advice for where to start. We have a 1993 FJ 70 two door with short wheel base. Beautiful vehicle, out of Venezuela. It’s in good shape but I’m looking to find manuals (English), resources, etc. Would love advice for where to start. I am not new to old classic cars, just new to the Land Cruiser side.

Welcome. not sure how many posts youll need to access it but the FSM is available to download in the resources section. Get some piccys posted to up your post count.

Thanks so much. You’ll see, I’m terrible at this. First time in a Forum. I don’t even know if this is a private message or if everyone can see it.
I’d love some initial advice on how to cold start my 70. I’ve never had a dashboard idle speed control before. Is there a general formula, such as half-open, as you crank for the first time? Any tips?

Everyone can read this. You probably can't send pms yet either. I've only used the hand throttle when using the winch really, I'm sure it's good for other things too but someone more knowledgeable will be along sometime

Welcome to the forum. I use the hand throttle on cold starts since I removed the ACSD (a sort of auto choke for diesels) to hold a slightly higher rpm until it warms up a bit. There's no ideal setting for it, just use feel. I start the engine with a little foot throttle, then lock the hand throttle at a suitable rpm.
