All my normal meds are spanish instructions and rarely in other langauges. But stuff you purchase over the counter does have different langauges other than English. FWIW I notice it is shops as well, purchase a drill for example the same lack of English?

There, I found you a question mark the right way up¡ :icon-biggrin: And no that is not an i after up, it is a spanish exclamation mark.:icon-biggrin:

^^^^ :eusa-naughty::eusa-naughty:

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising, the rebellion for Irish independence that changed the course of Ireland’s history when it began on Easter Monday, 1916.

Yep got this,, one of my friends is Irish livng here, so it has been the subject of conversation this last week. My comment should have had an exclamation mark and not an upside down question mark ...sorry.

And stating Northern Ireland would have helped , blame the pills, no english instructions :icon-biggrin:

Have they scrapped them? I'd better tell Aberthaw. Apparently the Euro Comission has weighed in there though, trying to lessen Nitrogen Oxide emissions. Bloody do-gooders. That only causes emphysema. And with the prevailing wind the only place that would really hit is Barry. Does anyone even live in Barry?

Excellent , i live in Barry and if the EU say that's true then it obviously isn't . Not that it matters though because it is a 100% unarguable scientifically proven FACT that i was never born because my mother worked in a pub where people smoked .

That is the sinister nature of the beast , the EU does not demand total conformity and enforce their command with bullets . Instead they do the ground work producing acres of paper all backed up with bought facts then release it with benign benevolence delivered by puppies riding unicorns with peace and goodwill to all men and the planet meaning only the most obnoxious disagreeable types might disagree with any of it .

When voting at a local level or even the assassination of a Prime Minister cannot alter the order from on high there is no democracy .

7 Million Deaths in 2012 caused by air pollution? My God Mark you had me frightened there, I thought that was for the UK, after reading the article I realise it's Global, terrible yes , but you had me going there.

(well its actually UK Legislation as any EU directive only becomes law when it is transposed by a member states into their legal framework)

Of course in a democracy people will be given the right to vote on whether or not they want these laws  anything else would be tyranny would it not ?

If only there were some kind of European Parliament where democratically elected representatives had to approve any law the European Comission proposed, along with a Council of Ministers representing the democratically elected governments of the member states.

That's is probably one of the most shocking things I've read in a while.

How would you explain to a parent of a child killed through air pollution health issues that a democratic vote decided clean air legislation wasn't wanted?

Sometime laws need to be made whether the public want it or not for thier protection

Why bring the emotive 'children' into this, it saddens me when people raise this sort of thing, to me it doesn't reinforce their argument, any preventable death is as bad as another.
It's the same with news reports, "X number of children were amongst those killed" Yes of course it is sad that children were killed but no sadder than anyone being killed. I just don't like attempted manipulation by someone trying to tug at my heart strings.

And then explain, that the same people who made the legislation, sat back and watched countless (developed)countries go ahead and ignore it¿

IIRC the UK failed to meet pretty much every air pollution target the UE and the UK gov ever set¿

I am not saying the legislation is wrong, and completely agree it is needed but, when the &%# is anyone going to take any notice of it¿¿

Yep agree with you on that. But our government is being prosecuted for the lack of compliance as Robs post shows.

I don't think this is true. I just happen to know a little bit about Aberthaw because it is close to me.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-32077196

Rob that link actually adds credence to my post. The UK is being taken to court by the EC so, the UK government has been ignoring the EU rules, simple!

So what difference has it made being in the EU when it comes to compliance........none.

In a nutshell, the UK pays a lot of money to be told what to do, and then ignore it, then get taken to court to pay a fine which YOU will finance.............great.

Yes it is a little frustrating, and its been successive government failings all the way back to the Blair Witch Project Government

Its a slight weird set of issues in a way. EU set limits for member states, Member states set legislation for the country to comply with to aid meeting those targets. A large part is applied to business and a lot comply (or get caught like VW). Those who don't do get prosecuted. Yet despite this the UK as a member state gets fined for not meeting targets as a member state. So you could argue that everyone ignored it or that the thinking behind the UK targets was flawed and the limits we imposed here would never have met the EU limits for the country

OK, but you said the people who made the legislation let countries ignore it. So I am showing you that the legislators (the EU) do not let countries ignore it. They prosecute countries who do ignore it. And I know as a result of this Aberthaw has, or at least is introducing changes to reduced N02 emissions.

But, if the UK government (read any) had a backbone and stood up to big businesses, and stopped pumping money into 'the EU club' the UK would have the resources to make the plant clean, witness the 2 million investment in Aberthaw in 2014 . Now I cannot remember the exact figure the UK pays into the EU daily but, 2 million is about three hours worth! Now put the money into the plant, or even better build a better plant, this would boost employment in the area, the air would be clean....er, there would be no court case, and you would not be paying the bill.

Thoughts on Port Talbot are that it is a disgrace that ridiculous energy tariffs are applied in one country while not in another which cause closure of plants, loss of jobs and hardship for many because of some lunacy that masquerades under the guise of saving the planet.
And if this has come from the EU then it strengthens the Out case.
It grieves me greatly to see the once great nation we live in torn apart and sold to the highest scrap bidder. British made steel was known for its top notch quality, so now we have to ship it from China or elsewhere with all the transport emissions involved in that and the pollution that China puts into the atmosphere increases because they don't care. So, energy policy to somehow clean up our act in the UK means greater environmental impact on the world in general and loss of British jobs and manufacturing.

Sorry for thread jack, It just enrages me the stupidity of it all from whatever political source.

completely agree. at heart im very proud of my country. its history, its achievements, its people. its country side, its architecture, but you know what, for the first time in my life im actually thinking all of this really is in the past. if steel production ceases in this country we really are a complete and utter farce. Belgium has its own steel industry ffs! steel production if nothing else is of strategic importance, the 5th largest economy in the world cant produce its own steel?!

is there any point any more? let the left have there way and flood the country with immigrants, let them destroy all of our institutions and erode all that makes up the very fabric of this country. let the republicans dissolve the monarchy. let the property developers build all over the countryside. lets sell off the last remaining great brands, even the successful ones get sold off. lets keep spending millions on scumbags with ten kids so they can get pissed every day and have sky tv. lets keep spending millions in foreign aid while ex soldiers sleep on the street. I could go on and on and on and..... whats the point? I don't stay here for the weather..
