Hi all
I’ve bought a good quality steering wheel with wood inserts for my 2004 Amazon. Does anyone know how to fit one also will it need recoding once fitted
Many thanks

From looking at the parts on amayama, it looks like there are some covers on each side of the wheel that need to be prised off to access the airbag retention screws.
Once undone this should be carefully pulled off forwards. This will then give you access to the centre nut holding the wheel on.
In the past I have undone the centre nut halfway then pulled on the wheel to break the grip on the splines. Once free then just remove the nut and the wheel should come off.
I can’t tell you about any recoding though.

What happens if you don’t disconnect the battery ? Is that to prevent the air bag from going off ? I’m having it dine this Wednesday
Many thanks

Hi Kieron,

Yes, always disconnect the battery when working anywhere near an airbag.

And . . . Let it stand for at least 20 mins to allow the capacitor(s) to discharge !
