I can see where you drain the gearbox oil, but i cant find where your ment to put the oil in, and how do you check the oil in the gearbox.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
hey there
i have attached some photos from my 60's gearbox
the filler is the one that has the pipe attached
the drain plug is he one directly below the filler
with these gear boxes the seal between the gearbox & transfer case
goes & the oil leaks out of the gear box into the transfer
that is the reason for the pipe from the filler of the transfer to the filler of the gear box
hope this helps
It depends on the workload I suppose but I guess if you change it now with synthetic gear oil you will never need to change it again in your lifetime. I've had a few 60's and only changed the oil in one. It had only done 85K miles but suffered with the common crunch from 1st to 2nd when cold. Put synth in and it transformed the gear changes never to crunch again
Hope this helps.
