Do you think that ED's is the same model that yours is then Chris? Would be nice if so, as you've spent so long wondering what model yours is. From what I can see in the photos compared to my GX, ED's GS is missing air-con, ABS and the body mouldings. There was also another limited edition model from memory called the K2 that was a GS with air-con. It also had some fancy mountain range decals on the side and I think only came in black

From what I've read GS is essentially "farm spec" for the shorties while fx? is the equivalent for lwb but I don't think that many are about?

Ha, ha Ben, like it!

Chewy looks in good shape. The over fenders issue is a whole debate of its own! I had to retrofit them to my 80 which didn't have any. Wider wheels and tyres meant 30mm of tyre protrusion without, which is a bit naughty on the road, and very messy offroad!

Still prefer it without but that's life and practicalities for you.
