Idle / Exhaust problem - advice needed please...

Hi, hopefully someone can advise...

My truck is a 2001 95 series 3.0TD FX narrow body with about 125,000 miles. Main silencer was very clogged & truck was 'breathless'. Having cut out silencer and replaced with straight pipe, things are definitely more lively & with a little more robust sound. Idle speed has jumped to about 900 rpm from 720 as normal before removal of silencer.

2 questions: Firstly, will running an open pipe system cause any problems long term with either turbo or valves? Secondly, how do I lower the idle speed again (without adding the weight of a standard mid-box again) & do I need to fit a less restrictive mid-box?

Thanks in anticipation for advice.

Get the engine up to normal running temp undo locking nut on idle screw it has an allen head screw ajust to desired RPM Job done
easy  Dont think you should have any probs wih a straight pipe bit more grunt as there will be less ristricion of exhaust gases

Many thanks for advice. Should be more grunty - maybe even faster - old silencer box must weigh 70 lbs, it was that clogged!
